Billy Moyer Caps Off Speedweeks with Pair of Volusia Triumphs!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team spent the majority of the month of February in the states of Georgia and Florida for "Speedweeks 2012." In all, Billy Moyer entered eleven Dirt Late Model events during his stint down south and reached victory lane on two different occasions. In addition to those two trips to victory lane at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, the Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer also recorded four additional Top Five performances.

As mentioned, both of Billy's wins came during the annual 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals' last week at Volusia. On Tuesday, February 21, Billy led flag-to-flag in the 30-lap UMP main event to capture the $7,000 top prize over Darrell Lanigan, Steve Francis, Rick Eckert, and Dennis Erb, Jr. In the 50-lap 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals' finale on Saturday, February 25, Billy started ninth on the grid and drove to the front of the talented field to grab the lead on lap 32. He then led the remainder of the distance to pocket $10,000 over Don O'Neal, Shane Clanton, Darrell Lanigan, and Steve Francis!

Other Top Five finishes included a second on February 11 at the Waycross Motor Speedway in Waycross, Georgia, a third on February 12 at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia, a fourth on February 17 at the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida, and another fourth on February 20 at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. The results from Billy's trip to Georgia and Florida are shown below, but you can read a detailed race-by-race recap by clicking on www.BillyMoyer.com.

February 11 | Waycross (GA) Motor Speedway, Unsanctioned | $10,000 to win (2nd)

February 12 | Golden Isles (GA) Speedway, Unsanctioned | $10,000 to win (3rd)

February 24 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $7,000 to win (18th)

February 24 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $10,000 to win (12th)

February 25 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, WoO | $10,000 to win (1ST)

"I am pretty pleased with how everything went during Speedweeks," commented Moyer earlier this week. "Aside from a few nights where we had problems, the car performed exceptional every night. The talent level down there was just off the charts, especially during the last week at Volusia when they had close to eighty cars. So, to win there twice with basically a World 100 field was really a great way to put an exclamation mark on Speedweeks!"

The famed #21 team is scheduled to take the upcoming March 2-4 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition, but will return to action on March 9-10. Billy is scheduled to invade the ArkLaTex Speedway in Vivan, Louisiana next weekend for the 'Pelican 100.' The unsanctioned, two-day show will pay $10,000 to the winner. Additional information can be found by logging onto www.ArkLaTexSpeedway.net.

Rick Eckert's Impressive Speedweeks Highlighted by $12,000 Ocala Win!

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) The Rick Eckert Racing team returned home this week following a strong start to their 2012 season during "Speedweeks." In all, Rick Eckert competed in ten Dirt Late Model events in Georgia and Florida from February 10-25, with six of those races sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Rick was consistently fast throughout "Speedweeks" and accumulated one victory, four Top Five finishes, and seven Top Ten performances.

His big win came in WOOLMS action on Saturday, February 18 at the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida. Following a heat race victory, the York, Pennsylvania standout grabbed the top spot on lap 44 and survived a wild 60-lap race to claim the hefty $12,000 winner's check over Josh Richards, Darrell Lanigan, Shane Clanton, and Pat Doar. Rick also claimed a podium finish in World of Outlaws competition during his season opener at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia when he finished a strong third in the $20,000 to win 'Winter Freeze.'

Other strong runs for "Scrub" came early last week in the 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals' at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. Rick notched a third place effort in the $7,000 to win UMP opener at VSP, while he finished a solid fourth the next night at the Daytona Beach area speedplant. All of Rick's results are posted below, but you can read a detailed race-by-race recap from Georgia and Florida by logging onto www.RickEckertRacing.com.

February 10-11 | Screven (GA) Motor Speedway, WoO | $20,000 to win (3rd)

February 16 | Bubba (FL) Raceway Park, WoO | $8,000 to win (10th)

February 17 | Bubba (FL) Raceway Park, WoO | $10,000 to win (11th)

February 18 | Bubba (FL) Raceway Park, WoO | $12,000 to win (1ST)

February 20 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $7,000 to win (3rd)

February 21 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $7,000 to win (4th)

February 22 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $7,000 to win (Rain)

February 23 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, WoO | $10,000 to win (7th)

February 24 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $7,000 to win (19th)

February 24 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, UMP | $10,000 to win (10th)

February 25 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, WoO | $10,000 to win (12th)

"It was a good trip for us and a nice way to start out our season," exclaimed Eckert from his race shop this week. "That ($12,000) win at Ocala was definitely the highlight of our Speedweeks, but we had some other strong runs down there as well at Screven and Volusia. As far as World of Outlaws points go, you can't win the championship down there, but you can come pretty close to losing it. Especially with six point races this year, it was critical to stay out of trouble and post some solid finishes. Fortunately, we were able to come out of Speedweeks fourth in points and that at least keeps us in contention to compete for another title."

The #24 team is scheduled to take the better part of a month off from Dirt Late Model competition before entering the next World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdown on March 30-31 in the Land of Lincoln. The Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois will play host to the annual 'Illini 100' at the end of the month and a whopping $20,000 payday is on the line. Rick will come into the 1/4-mile fairgrounds oval fourth in the WOOLMS point standings. Additional information on the 'Illini 100' can be viewed by clicking on www.WorldofOutlaws.com.

Rick would like to thank the following sponsors for their commitment to his race team: In Loving Memory of Raye Vest, J&K Salvage, Ritchey Sandblasting, Bloomquist Race Cars, Jay Dickens Racing Engines, Eckert Trucking, S&S Mobile Power Wash, Allstar Performance, Arizona Sport Shirts, Awesome Racewear, Bell Helmets, Beyea Headers, Callies, Comp Cams, Delph Communications, Dyer's Top Rods, FK Rod Ends, Heintz Bros. Automotive, Hoosier Tire, Hypercoils, ISC Racers Tape, JC Dubil Race Parts, Next Level Racing Graphics, Ohlins Shocks, Performance Bodies, Petersen Aluminum, Peterson Fluid Systems, Quarter Master, Ringers Gloves, Schaeffer's Racing Oil, Scott Performance Wire, Sunoco Race Fuels, Sweet Mfg., The Bolt Patrol, Tim Fitez Painting, Van Alstine Tire Groovers, Weld Racing Wheels, Wiles Driveshafts, and Winters Performance.

Dennis Erb, Jr. entered thirteen Dirt Late Model events at three southern venues from February 11-25. In two week's time, Dennis turned the heads of the entire industry by racking up two victories, eight Top Five finishes, and eleven Top Ten performances. By virtue of those consistent runs, Dennis was awarded both the DART Winternationals Point Championship at the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida and the Championship of Late Model Week at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida!

Both of Dennis' trips to victory lane during "Speedweeks" were worth $10,000 to the #28 team. On Friday, February 17, Dennis was involved in an early incident at East Bay, pitted for new rubber, and stormed back through the talented field from the tail. He eventually grabbed the top spot from Randy Korte with only two circuits remaining in the 50-lapper and went on to the exciting Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win over Korte, Tyler Reddick, Jonathan Davenport, and Donnie Moran. Dennis' other triumph came on Thursday, February 23 in a World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdown at Volusia. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace won his heat race and later beat Scott Bloomquist, Chub Frank, Steve Francis, and Jimmy Owens to the checkers in the 50-lap event.

February 25 | Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, WoO | $10,000 to win (7th)

"Our year could not have gotten off to a better start," stated Erb this week following his return to the Land of Lincoln. "We were fast right out of the box at Waycross and it continued right through East Bay and Volusia. It is no secret that we didn't have the year we wanted to have last year in the Bloomquist cars, but we worked hard over the off-season and it really paid off during Speedweeks. We'll freshen everything up the best we can over the next week or so here at the shop before heading back down south to Boyd's and Cleveland."

Following the ultra-successful stint down south, the #28 team will take the upcoming March 2-4 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. They will not stay away from the track for long, as Dennis plans to return back to action over the March 9-10 weekend. On Friday night, the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia will play host to a $5,000 to win, unsanctioned event. The doubleheader will then conclude on Saturday evening at the historic Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee. The Southern Allstars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) will sanction the annual running of the 'Shamrock' at Cleveland and a $10,000 payday awaits the winner. Additional information can be accessed online at www.BoydsSpeedway.net and www.ClevelandSpeedway.com.

Jason Hughes Scores Second Win of 2012

Westville, Oklahoma (3/01/12) – Jason Hughes piloted his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified to his second win of the season on Friday night during the 3rd Annual Texas Spring Nationals.

After being delayed a week by rain the 3rd Annual Texas Spring Nationals opener was finally held on Thursday night at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas). Sixty-two competitors registered for action in the $2,000-to-win event, which was sanctioned by the Casey's General USMTS tour. In heat race action Hughes advanced from his ninth starting spot to a fourth place finish, which left him short of a transfer to the main event, but locked him into the pole-starting-spot for a b-main. In the b-main Hughes would storm to the win to lock into the 16th starting spot for the 40 lap feature. In the main event Hughes mounted a great charge through the field as he advanced eleven spots on his way to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Terry Phillips, Rodney Sanders, Mark Dotson, and Stormy Scott. For his efforts he earned the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award.

On Friday night Jason claimed his second win of the 2012 season at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) as he topped a field of 67 entries for the $4,000 win in the second round of the 3rd Annual Texas Spring Nationals. Hughes began the night by winning his heat race to lock into the redraw for the 40 lap feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the second starting spot alongside pole sitter, Stormy Scott. When the race went green Hughes bolted to a lead that he would never relinquish as he led all 40 laps to claim the win over Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, John O Whittington, and Kelly Shryock.

Jason wrapped up the 3rd Annual Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) on Saturday night with a $4,000-to-win event at the facility. Sixty-five entries registered for battle, and a ninth place start in his heat would only turn into a sixth place finish, which left him short of locking into the main event. As a result, Hughes ran a b-main, where he charged from the fifth starting position to claim the win, which locked him into the 17th starting spot for the finale. As the race got underway Jason began marching through the field, and by the time that the checkered flew he was in the fifth position behind race winner, Johnny Scott, Ryan Gustin, Steve Whiteaker Jr., and John O Whittington. For full results from all three events, please visit www.USMTS.com.

This weekend, March 1st-4th, the team turns their attention to the 17th Annual Winter Meltdown and 6th Annual Chub Daniels Memorial at Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico). The four day extravaganza draws many of the nation's top, Open Wheel Modified pilots to the event, which culminates with a $10,000-to-win finale. An open practice session is held on Friday before seeing qualifying events held on Friday and Saturday. The weekend concludes on Sunday with b-mains and the $10,000-to-win, main event. For more information on the event, please visit www.SNMSpeedway.com .

Hughes Race Cars is currently busy preparing new chassis for the 2012 season. The company also offers full chassis services as well as parts. Visit www.JasonHughes12.com for more information on how to join our winning team.

Ray Cook Enjoys Strong Speedweeks Highlighted by $7,000 Winternationals Win!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the D&R Motorsports team have recently returned back home following a successful stint in Georgia and Florida during "Speedweeks 2012." In all, the #53 team entered eight high-profile Dirt Late Model events from February 10-18 at three different southern venues: Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia, Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia, and East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida. Ray was fast at all three facilities, as he accumulated one victory, two runner-up finishes, and two additional Top Ten performances.

The trip to victory lane, Ray's second already in 2012, came on Wednesday, February 15 at the East Bay Raceway Park. The Brasstown, North Carolina hotshoe led the 35-lap, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned 'Winternationals' feature event on a couple of different occasions before claiming the $7,000 top prize over Jonathan Davenport, Steve Francis, Scott Bloomquist, and Dennis Erb, Jr. Ray's runner-up efforts came earlier in "Speedweeks" in the Peach State of Georgia. He finished second to only winner Darrell Lanigan on Saturday, February 11 in the $20,000 to win 'Winter Freeze' at Screven, while he also secured a close second to winner Jonathan Davenport a day later in the $10,000 to win 'Super Bowl of Racing' at Golden Isles.

At the conclusion of the six-race 'Winternationals' at East Bay, in which Ray recorded the win and two more Top Ten outings, he was credited with a fifth place finish in the final DART 'Winternationals' point standings. The popular driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" currently finds himself tied for fourteenth in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings, which were comprised only of the final two nights at East Bay. A complete race-by-race recap from Ray's journey through Georgia and Florida can be viewed by clicking on www.RayCook53.com.

"I am ecstatic on how we performed throughout Speedweeks and I can't thank my team and everyone associated with it for all of their support and dedication," exclaimed Cook upon his arrival back in North Carolina. "My hat is off to the whole MasterSbilt gang. They built me and (Don) O'Neal new cars this off-season and they were extremely fast right out of the box. We had a couple of close runner-up finishes in Georgia that got our trip off to a great start and then the win at East Bay really capped it off. Historically, I have not been very good at that place, but to win there for the first time in 12 years was special and it really gives me some confidence heading into the rest of the season!"

The next event for the D&R Motorsports team is scheduled to be the 15th Annual 'Bama Bash' on March 2-3 at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama. The unsanctioned, two-day program will be headlined by a $15,015 to win, 75-lap main event on Saturday night, March 3. Ray was victorious in the 2009 and 2010 versions of the 'Bama Bash' and finished a solid ninth in the final rundown in 2011 despite getting caught up in an early wreck. Additional information on the Green Valley Speedway can be located online at www.GreenValleySpeedway.com.

Ray Cook would like to thank all of his supporters including: D&R Motorsports, Hicks & Ingle Company, MasterSbilt Race Cars, Race Engine Design, PPM Racing Products, A+ Moving and Storage Company, K&N Filters, PRC Racing, Real Racing Wheels, Bill Elliott Racing, James Cook Construction, American Race Tire, Bert Transmissions, Brodix Cylinder Heads, Chizmark & Larson Insurance Agency, DBR Starters, Delph Communications, Demon Carburetors, Eibach Springs, FK Rod Ends, Frankland Racing Supply, GW Performance, Integra Shocks, ISC Racers Tape, JB Performance, Mason Racin', MSD Ignition, Peterson Fluid Systems, Schaeffer's Racing Oil, Scott Performance Wire, Stealth Carburetors, Sweet Mfg., T&D Machine, Turbo Start Batteries, VP Racing Fuels, Wiles Driveshafts, and Wilwood.

Quincy, Illinois (02/13/12) –With the 2012 season now upon us Jake Griffin is preparing for his most ambitious campaign to date, and he will be opening it February 15th-21st at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) during the 41st Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals.

While Jake has been eagerly preparing to go head-to-head with many of the nation’s top Open Wheel Modified pilots in Florida, there has been some big off-season news for the team. Most notably the team has welcomed Fierge Auto Parts, based in Quincy, Illinois. Fierge Auto Parts is one of the nation’s largest, salvage yards, and company owner, Randy Fierge, has a long history in the motorsports world. In addition to sponsoring some of the top regional drivers, including Steve Fraise, Fierge has also sponsored some nationally-renowned drivers over the years including Jimmy Spencer and Kenny Wallace. While Fierge Auto Parts has not graced the side of a race car in several years, the company makes a return as a racing sponsor for the 2012 season after taking note of the rapid progression of Jake Griffin in his career.

In regards to the new sponsorship Jake comments, “For Mr. Fierge and his family to decide to become involved with my program means a lot to me. He’s helped a lot of great drivers over the year, and to now be one of those drivers is a really big deal. I plan to do everything that I can to make his sponsorship as beneficiary as possible.”

For more information on the company, please visit www.Fierge.com .

Jake recently received more exciting news as he has been cleared to compete in the Asphalt Late Model division at Hawkeye Downs Speedway (Cedar Rapids, Iowa). This is big news for the team because Jake will be the youngest driver to ever run a Late Model at the facility as well as providing an opportunity for him to gain valuable pavement experience. He will compete at the track on Friday nights from May until August. Griffin also plans to compete at Quincy Raceways on Sunday night with his UMP Modified and UMP Late Model. More information on the respective facilities can be found at www.HawkeyeDownsSpeedway.com and www.QuincyRaceways.com .

In just a few days Jake will be headed to the Sunshine State for the 41st Annual UNOH DIRTCar Nationals at the lightning fast, ˝ mile oval at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida), where he will take his #08 Bob Pierce Open Wheel Modified into battle. On Wednesday, February 15th-Sunday, February 19th, individual programs will be held, which lead up to the $5,000-to-win, UMP Gator Championship on Monday, February 20th. Ramirez would make a strong showing in the Open Wheel Modified division with five top-ten-finishes and three top-five-finishes as he qualified for all six features with just one DNF. His best finish came in Round #2 of the series, when he finished second to Stormy Scott.

Over 80 Super Late Model pilots registered for action in at least one event, and again a talent-laden field was on hand each night as Ramirez made his first ever laps in a Super Late Model. Dereck went into the six race series with the attitude that he would use the events to become familiar with piloting a Super Late Model. Not only would he gain valuable track time as he took part in four of the events, but he would also impressively qualify for the feature event in Round #5.

Billy Moyer Dominates Wild West Shootout with Three Victories; Preps for Speedweeks!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team recently returned home to their Batesville, Arkansas race shop following a 2700 mile round trip visit to the USA Raceway in Tucson, Arizona. For the third straight year, Billy Moyer kicked off his racing season in Tucson, as he entered all six races during the annual 'Wild West Shootout' from January 14-22. Billy racked up three victories during his stint out west, which now makes him the all-time leader in 'Wild West Shootout' wins with a total of ten.

Each of Billy's triumphs at the USA Raceway were worth $3,000 each. The Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer won the miniseries opener on January 14 over Will Vaught, Shannon Babb, Jimmy Mars, and Tim McCreadie. He then reached victory lane on Friday, January 20 by defeating Tim McCreadie, Will Vaught, Brad Looney, and Shannon Babb. Billy's third and final win of the 'Wild West Shootout' came on Saturday, January 21 when he beat Jeff Provinzino, Jon Kirby, Terry Phillips, and Don Shaw to the checkers.

The popular driver known as "Mr. Smooth" had several near-misses as well. He finished a strong runner-up on Wednesday night, January 18 behind only winner Don O'Neal. Billy was then leading the $10,000 to win 'Bill Cheesbourg Memorial' on Sunday, January 22 when a mechanical failure caused him to retire from the race with only ten circuits remaining. You can read a detailed, race-by-race recap from Tucson by clicking on www.BillyMoyer.com.

"We had a strong trip out to Tucson this year, but it would have sure been nice to have won that $10,000 finale too," exclaimed Moyer today in a telephone conversation. "It was good to get those three wins, but that final race is where you can make it worth your while money-wise to go out there. I am really excited about how our car feels right now though. We built that car at the end of last year and tweaked on it some over the off-season. It has that same feel, if not even a little better, than that 2010 car that won all those races. So, that definitely has me excited and ready to go racing this year!"

Billy Moyer Racing will comb through their equipment after competing in Tucson and start preparing for "Speedweeks 2012" in Georgia and Florida. Billy has committed to competing at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia, the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida, and the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida from February 10-25. In all and weather pending, Billy will enter ten high-profile events in the Southeast, all sanctioned by either the World of Outlaws Late Model Series or the UMP DIRTcar Series.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE:
February 10-11 | Screven (GA) Motor Speedway, WoO | $20,000 to win

February 16 | Bubba (FL) Raceway Park, WoO | $8,000 to win

February 17 | Bubba (FL) Raceway Park, WoO | $10,000 to win

February 18 | Bubba (FL) Raceway Park, WoO | $12,000 to win

Jason Hughes Opens 2012 With a Win in Tucson

Westville, Oklahoma (1/25/12) – After building a new car during the off-season Jason Hughes decided to take his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified to USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) to test it during the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout, and his opening round testing would result in a $1,000 win.

The 6th Annual Wild West Shootout consisted of six, separate $1,000-to-win shows strewn over a ten day stretch. Many of the nation's top drivers took advantage of the multi-day event to get their cars dialed in for the 2012 campaign as more than 60 drivers took part in at least one event.

Jason opened his 2012 season on Saturday, January 14th in the first of six events in the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona). It would prove to be a great outing for Hughes, who entered the six race extravaganza with the intent of testing a new car.

With a talent-laden field of 55 Open Wheel Modifieds entered, Jason won the sixth heat race from the third starting spot. Via passing points he locked into the redraw for the feature, where he was the lucky recipient of the pole position for the $1,000-to-win, 25 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Stormy Scott, and as the race went green Hughes would bolt to the lead. While he would build a solid lead early in the event, Scott would stage a pair of midrace charges for the lead. Hughes would be able to repel the charges on his way to the win, which came over Scott and Rodney Sanders.

"I really just came out here with the intent to test as many setups as possible on this new car, so to get a win is really something great," commented Hughes.

Jason's results for the miniseries are available on his website at www.JasonHughes12.com and full results for the miniseries are available at www.USARaceway.net.

Hughes Race Cars is currently busy preparing new chassis for the 2012 season. The company also offers full chassis services as well as parts. Visit www.JasonHughes12.com for more information on how to join our winning team.

Morgan Bagley Claims $10k Win in Wild West Shootout Finale

Longview, Texas (01/25/12) –Morgan Bagley began his 2012 campaign in fine fashion by claiming the $10,000 win in the Bill Cheesebourg Memorial behind the wheel of his #14m P&W Sales/Rocket By R.E. Consulting/Clements Super Late Model at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona).

Sunday afternoon was a crowning achievement in the young, Super Late Model career of Morgan Bagley as he raced his way to the $10,000 win in the Bill Cheesebourg Memorial at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona). The big paying event served as the final round of the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout, and after winning his heat race, Bagley locked into the redraw for the feature, where he received the outside, front row starting spot for the feature, alongside pole-sitter, Billy Moyer Jr.

As the race went green Bagley shot to the lead before Moyer Jr. took over the lead a couple of laps later. Morgan would storm back to the lead on the tenth lap and would hold the spot until lap 19 when Billy Moyer raced past for the top spot. Bagley would maintain the second spot until mechanical issues ended Moyer's run on lap 30, allowing Morgan to inherit the lead. He would never give up the lead again as he led the final ten laps to claim the richest payday of his career. Morgan was followed across the finish line by Tim McCreadie, John Anderson, Billy Moyer Jr., and Jimmy Mars.

"Part of me hates to get a win that way with the leader breaking, but I'll definitely take it," laughed Bagley after the event. "Randall (Edwards) and everyone with this team has done a great job with this car getting it ready for the season. We've had a good car out here all week, but we just haven't had the best of luck and our results haven't shown what we are capable of until tonight. I can't thank my team and team owner, Wayman McMillan enough for their support and hard work."

Ray Cook Starts 2012 Season with Ice Bowl Victory at Talladega Short Track!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The "Tarheel Tiger" Ray Cook debuted a new orange paint scheme on his #53 MasterSbilt racecar on January 7-8 at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama and it certainly did not slow him down, as he captured his second 'Ice Bowl' title in convincing fashion! During the extended weekend at TST, a combination of new clay and intermittent rain showers kept the racing surface rough and fast. On Saturday, Ray laid down a solid lap during the qualifying session and later dominated his heat race en route to the prelim victory.

When Sunday rolled around at the track deemed as the "Hornets Nest," Ray started the 50-lap 'Ice Bowl' from the outside of the second row. The Brasstown, North Carolina native muscled past polesitter Jason Wilson to grab the point on the eighth circuit and led the remainder of the distance en route to the $6,000 payday. Ray, who also won the 'Ice Bowl' back in 2009, defeated Joe Armistead, Jr., Stacy Holmes, Jason Hiett, and Chad Winkles in the rough and tumble race, which was slowed by nine caution periods. Complete coverage from 'Ice Bowl XXI' can be accessed by clicking on www.dirtondirt.com.

"We are just so tickled to get a win right off the bat in 2012 and especially at a race with so much prestige like the Ice Bowl," stated Cook via telephone this morning. "Everything worked real well all weekend and we learned some stuff on our car to get through those rough track conditions. I have to thank my entire team, but especially Keith (Masters) and Gary (Winger) for some valuable help on how to get through those holes. Back in 2009 when I won the Ice Bowl for the first time, it helped propel us to maybe the best year in my career. Hopefully, this Ice Bowl victory will come close to doing the same thing!"

The D&R Motorsports team will go back to work at the shop this week to comb through their #53 car to look for any bent or broken parts due to the rough racing surface at TST. Weather pending, the next race for the team will be on Saturday, January 21 at the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. The annual running of the 'Cabin Fever 40' is scheduled to pay $3,000 to the winner in two weeks time. Additional information on this unsanctioned program can be viewed by logging onto www.boydsspeedway.net.

Ray Cook would like to thank all of his supporters including: D&R Motorsports, Hicks & Ingle Company, MasterSbilt Race Cars, Race Engine Design, PPM Racing Products, A+ Moving and Storage Company, K&N Filters, PRC Racing, Real Racing Wheels, Bill Elliott Racing, James Cook Construction, American Race Tire, Bert Transmissions, Brodix Cylinder Heads, Chizmark & Larson Insurance Agency, DBR Starters, Delph Communications, Demon Carburetors, Eibach Springs, FK Rod Ends, Frankland Racing Supply, GW Performance, Integra Shocks, ISC Racers Tape, JB Performance, Mason Racin', MSD Ignition, Peterson Fluid Systems, Schaeffer's Racing Oil, Scott Performance Wire, Stealth Carburetors, Sweet Mfg., T&D Machine, Turbo Start Batteries, VP Racing Fuels, Wiles Driveshafts, and Wilwood.

Gillenwater Motorsports set to return in 2012

IRONTON, OH-After nearly six years away from the dirt track, Gillenwater Motorsports is back. Gillenwater Motorsports, which has been around the sport for 45 years, will return to the track this year competing in the Sport Mod class at the Southern Ohio Speedway.

Gillenwater Motorosports, originally known as Gillenwater Brothers Racing, was official...ly formed in the year 1967 in Ironton, Ohio. In 1966, Otha Gillenwater took his three sons, John, Ray, and PD to the races at Southern Ohio Speedway. From the first race, the brothers were hooked and began putting together a car to race for the 1967 season.

In 1967, the brothers accomplished their goal of fielding a race car and competed at Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio and Champions Speedway in Kitts Hill, Ohio. John and Ray split the driving duties, while PD went off to join the service. The brothers raced through the 1973 season until rising costs forced the team to quit racing.

John, in taking his kids with him to the races, instilled the racing bug in son John Jr. After 19 years away from the sport, Gillenwater Motorsports returned in 1992 with John Jr. behind the wheel of a Street Stock at the Portsmouth Raceway Park. John Jr. competed in the Street Stock class for one year and then sat out until 2005 when he returned to the wheel of a Late Model at the Rocky Top Raceway. John Jr. competed in the Late Model division for a year and a half until rising costs forced him to sit out again.

In 2011, the newly re-opened Southern Ohio Speedway announced the introduction of the economical Sport Mod class. John Jr. took notice and looked at this as his opportunity to get back into the sport and be able to race on the track his dad started at. So in December of 2011 John Jr. purchased a car to compete in the class. With that will come the official return of Gillenwater Motorsports to the track in 2012.

Even in the years that Gillenwater Motorsports did not compete on track, they have still been familiar faces around the sport. John Sr. and John Jr. have both been loyal race fans in the region, supporting the regions dirt tracks each year. John Jr. has also been a big part of several tracks, race teams, and racing related businesses by providing website and graphics work through his business Pro Star Designs.

As Gillenwater Motorsports makes a run at the 2012 SOS Sport Mod track championship, they would like to thank the following sponsors for their support: Counter Culture Inc.,ThinkTees.com, Brokers Unlimited, Remy’s Auto Group, 222 Signs and Graphics, BC Tool Rental, Kidz Dudz, Taras Island Rayz, Southern Ohio Sports Photos, and Pro Star Designs.

Kent Robinson to Make Run at World of Outlaws Tour

Bloomington, Indiana (01/03/12) – With the 2012 season soon to be a reality Kent Robinson has announced that he tentatively plans to pilot his #7r JB's Salvage/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Super Late Model on the full World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour as he pursues the Rookie of the Year title.

After several successful seasons in an Open Wheel Modified, the 21-year-old Robinson recently concluded his first full season in a Dirt Super Late Model in 2011, and it was a strong debut for the Bloomington, Indiana driver. Kent raced 62 times in 10 states with 1 win, 14-top-five, and 20-top-ten finishes. He made numerous crown jewels including the Dream, the Show Me 100 , the North/South 100, the World 100, and the Jackson 100. He also qualified for six Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series features and three World of Outlaws features. He also finished 6th at the WoO race at Bardstown Speedway (Kentucky) and racked up two top five finishes in Summer National events.

The 2011 season gave the young driver confidence, and with that confidence, Robinson looks to embark on his most daunting task to date. "No doubt it's a big undertaking to hit the road fulltime with a national tour like the World of Outlaws, but it's something that I feel that me and my time are ready to do as we make our next step in this sport. I know there's a lot of talented drivers, who are chasing the WoO Rookie Title this year, and I'm honored to throw my name into the mix with those guys. As of this moment we are 95% sure that we will do the whole deal, but for right now we are focused on the Georgia and Florida Speedweek events to see how we stack up," comments Robinson.

Robinson's 2012 slate with the WoO tour will begin on February 10th-11th at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) in a $20,000-to-win event. Before heading south to Florida for events at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, FL) and Volusia Speedway Park (Deleon Springs, FL), Robinson plans to compete in the unsanctioned, $10,000-to-win event at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Florida) on February 12th. REAL DEAL CELEBRATES BIG 2011 SEASON

VP Powers O’Neal to Major Wins

MARTINSVILLE, IN (January 3, 2012) Don O’Neal, known as the “Real Deal” in dirt late model circles, had an extraordinary season on the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model tour. Wanting to clear up some confusion and get the real deal straight, O’Neal credits VP Racing Fuels for powering the #71 Late Model to wins at the Eldora Dream XVII, the 31st Annual Dirt Track World Championship, the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, and a 3rd place finish in Lucas Oil series points.

“I had VP’s Late Model Plus in the Mastersbilt car all year long, for the wins and everything else,” O’Neal stated. “By mistake, I grabbed the wrong fire suit for the final at the Dream and while VP powered me to the win, I wound up in victory lane with the wrong patch on my suit,” he continued. “To make matters worse, when we put out our 2011 season DVD, that Dream photo wound up on the DVD cover.

“To set the record straight, I just had my best year ever and switching to VP played a major role in that. I run VP, I love VP and intend to continue to rely on VP for all the same reasons most of the guys I race with do. It’s the best!”
