Pontoon Beach, IL (September 28, 2007) Billy Faust of Lebanon, Illinois claimed the final Super Late Model event of the 2007 racing season at Tri-City Speedway as he dominated the main event. Billy Faust led all twenty-five laps as he claimed his seventh feature victory of the 2007 season at Tri-City Speedway! Billy Faust jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag as he raced past pole sitter Terry Babb. On lap ten, the second and third place cars of Chad Zobrist and Mark Oller would tangle and spin exiting turn two. Chad Zobrist would pull off the speedway after the incident and Mark Oller was forced to restart at the rear and was later caught up in another incident when Terry Babb spun. Billy Faust only real challenge for the lead came mid-way through the event when Mark Faust pulled along side by using the high-side. Billy Faust, who had been running the very bottom, realized the faster line was around the top and moved up in front of Mark Faust on the top side. Billy Faust proceeded to pull away in the closing laps to earn the victory. Mark Faust would finish second. Michael Kloos was finish in the third position with Frankie Martin coming home fourth and Billy Laycock completed the top five.

Tommie Seets, Jr. of Brighton, Illinois picked up his first win of the 2007 racing season at Tri-City Speedway in the Modified division. Seets was the class of the field as led all twenty laps of the main event and went relatively unchallenged for the lead. Ray Walsh would finish a strong second but could never get close enough to Seets to mount a challenge. Brandon Lennox of New London, Missouri had his best run ever at Tri-City Speedway as he finished third in the main event after winning his qualifying heat race and the dash earlier in the night. Eric Faust stormed through the field to a fourth place finish after starting way back in the seventeenth starting position. Faust charge toward the front also earned him the STLRacing.com Hard Charger Award of $200. Steve Meyer, Jr. made a last turn pass on Justin Reed to complete the top five.

Rylan Dagg of Wayne City, Illinois claimed his second Crate American Racing Series Late Model feature win of 2007 at Tri-City Speedway. Dagg battled early on with Casey Montague, but pulled away to victory in the closing laps. Daniel Heck would finish third behind Montague with Aaron Heck finishing fourth and Ron Sensel was fifth.

Danny Ems of Arnold, Missouri got his first win of 2007 at Tri-City Speedway in the Street Stock division. It was a two car battle for the lead as Ems and Jason Zobrist battled it out for all fifteen laps. Zobrist would have to settle for a second place finish with Michael Jeffries taking third, Todd Erickson fourth and Brett Clardy fifth.

Chris Fisher continued his great 2007 racing season in the Factory Stock class. It was Fisher's third win in just five visits to Tri-City Speedway in 2007. Fisher of Festus, Missouri was also the track champion at I-55 Raceway in this division. David Shaw kept the pressure on Fisher the entire distance, but Fisher was too strong around the bottom and picked up the victory. T.J. Eilers would get the third spot with Cody Conner finishing fourth and Trevor Isaac fifth.

Pontoon Beach, IL (September 22, 2007) Shannon Babb of Mowequa, Illinois tasted victory for the first time in new Bob Pierce Race Cars chassis late model during the Fed Ex 50 at Tri-City Speedway. Babb started on the pole for the main event with Lebanon, Illinois' Billy Faust on the outside of the front row. At the drop of the green flag, it was Billy Faust jumping out front and pacing the field at a blistering pace. Shannon Babb gave chase, dropping back as far as ten car lengths in the early stages of the 50 lap event. As the leaders raced into lapped traffic, Shannon Babb closed in on Billy Faust for the lead. On lap fifteen, Shannon Babb found an opening and swept passed Billy Faust and into the lead. Shannon Babb set a scorching pace as he went on to lap all but ten cars on the 3/8 mile surface. Billy Faust never lost site of the leader and made it interesting in the closing laps as they raced through the lapped cars. However, Shannon Babb proved too tough and claimed the $10,000 top prize in the Fed Ex 50. Billy Faust would earn second with Billy Moyer fininshing third. Rodney Melvin would race to a fourth place finish with Randy Korte completing the top five.

Pontoon Beach, IL (September 14, 2007) Tri-City Speedway hosted their Season Championship Night in which Champions for the 2007 racing season were crowned in all five divisions. There were 140 race cars on hand in the five divisions to compete in the night's events. In the Late Model division, Bryan Collins of Elsberry, Missouri started the night with a slim nine point lead in the championship point standings over Mark Faust. Collins was able to secure the championship with a dominating performance as he stormed to his fourth victory of the 2007 season at Tri-City Speedway. Collins led all twenty-five laps of the main event and was mostly unchallenged for the win. Billy Faust was able to get close to Collins while they were in heavy lapped traffic, but once Collins cleared the lapped cars, he pulled away and earned a convincing victory. Billy Faust took second, Tim Manville crossed the line in third with Rick Salter taking fourth and Rusty Griffaw rounded out the top five.

Marty Smith, Jr. of Troy, Illinois claimed the Modified Championship with his second place finish in the main event. Bobby Martintoni, who started the night just twelve points behind Smith, jumped to the early lead in the main event. Smith faded all the way back to fifth in the early laps. After falling back, Smith moved to the top and came flying to the front. Just three laps after moving to the top, Smith took the lead from Martintoni. Mike Harrison went to the top as well after watching Smith go by him. Harrison followed Smith past Martintoni and into the second position. The two raced nose to tail around the top with Martintoni challenging around the bottom. As they reached lapped traffic, Harrison made a strong move through the middle of the track to sweep past Smith and several lapped cars to take the lead. Harrison would hold on and take the win with Smith finishing second and Martintoni third. Tim Hancock would finish fourth and Kyle Byerline completed the top five.

Nick Lyons of Centralia, Illinois wrapped up the championship in the CARS Late Model division with his seventh victory of the 2007 season at Tri-City Speedway. Lyons led all twenty laps of the main event as Rylan Dagg tried to mount a challenge by using the middle groove. But as the laps went by, his line began to go away. Mark Oller, who started in the middle of the pack, raced his way toward the front and moved past Dagg with three laps remaining to take over the second spot, but ran out of laps to chase down Lyons. Ron Sensel also got by Dagg in the closing laps to finish third. Dagg would finish fourth with Casey Montague completing the top five.

Josh Jackson of South Roxana, Illinois also wrapped up the Street Stock Championship with a victory. It was Jackson's fourth victory of the 2007 season at Tri-City Speedway. Tommy Gegg battled with Jackson for most of the event for the top spot, but had to settle for the second spot. Sam Kizer would finish third, with Jim Bell fourth and Ricky Huebner fifth.

Ryan Eilers of Highland, Illinois earned the Factory Stock Championship. Eilers battled fiercly with Chris Fisher in the main event as the two raced side-by-side lap after lap. Fisher would edge out Eilers at the finish line to steal a little of the thunder from Eiler's championship clinching event. David Shaw would finish third with Aaron Wood fourth and Conrad Miner completed the top five.

Red-Hot Phillips Bags Second Straight, 60^th Career MARS DIRTcar Series Victory Wednesday Night At Tri-City Speedway

PONTOON BEACH, IL – Aug. 22, 2007 – Terry Phillips continued his red-hot month of August, winning Wednesday night’s 40-lap MARS DIRTcar Series/UMP DIRTcar Racing Late Model Shootout at Tri-City Speedway.

The $5,000 triumph was Phillips’s second consecutive on the MARS tour after he went winless in the first 11 events of the 2007 season. He broke through for his initial victory on Aug. 11 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

Phillips, 41, of Springfield, Mo., was the evening’s dominant force. He blasted into the lead from the outside pole when the A-Main began and never looked back, leading every lap around the three-eighths-mile oval.

Will Vaught of Crane, Mo., who started fourth, made a late run at the top prize, but Phillips calmly stuck to the inside groove and beat the up-and-coming 20-year-old to the finish line.

Vaught, who earned 2006 MARS Rookie of the Year honors, settled for second place. The run elevated the young driver to the MARS points lead for the first time in his career – by three points over four-time tour champion Bill Frye of Greenbrier, Ark., who advanced from the 14^th starting spot to finish third, and 15 points over three-time champion Phillips.

Two-time UMP DIRTcar Racing Summernationals champion Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., finished fourth and 2006 UMP Late Model national champ Randy Korte of Highland, Ill., placed fifth.

Current UMP Late Model national points leader Wes Steidinger of Fairbury, Ill., finished sixth.

Phillips’s win came behind the wheel of an Andy’s Frozen Custard-sponsored GRT car that he debuted two weeks earlier at Lucas Oil Speedway. He also nearly drove the car to a $46,000 victory on Aug. 18 in the ‘Topless 100’ at Batesville Speedway in Locust Grove, Ark.; he lost the lead with only three laps to go due to a flat tire.

Phillips also reached a milestone on the MARS tour Wednesday night, recording his alltime series-leading 60^th career win.

Springfield, Mo.’s Jeremy Payne, who drives a car from Phillips’s stable, entered the event ranked fourth in the MARS points standings, but he fell to fifth after his involvement in an accident left him with an 18^th-place finish.

Heat winners were Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., Vaught, Jack Sullivan of Greenbrier, Ark., and Phillips, and Mark Faust of Brees, Ill., and Michael Kloos of Trenton, Ill., captured the B-Mains.

Moyer discovered terminal mechanical trouble in his machine after winning the first heat, forcing him to only take the A-Main green flag in his backup machine.

A four-race MARS DIRTcar Series swing continues on Thursday night (Aug. 23) at Poplar Bluff (Mo.) Speedway; Friday night (Aug. 24) at Paducah (Ky.) International Raceway; and Saturday night (Aug. 25) at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo.

Pontoon Beach, IL (August 17, 2007) Randy Korte of Highland, IL won his second Super Late Model main event of the season at Tri-City Speedway as he led all twenty-five laps of the main event enroute to victory. Korte, who had spent the morning at Ft. Knox, KY watching his son Dustin Korte graduate from US Army Basic Training, had to hold off a late surge from current point leader Bryan Collins. Collins second place finish gives him a slim eleven point lead over Mark Faust (who finished fourth) for the Tri-City Speedway Track Championship in the Super Late Model division. Six time 2007 Tri-City Speedway feature winner Billy Faust battled Collins for the second spot, but had to settle for a third place finish. Kyle Steffens late season surge continued as he got another top five finish as he took fifth behind Mark Faust.

NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader made a surprise visit to Tri-City Speedway and thrilled the fans with a last lap pass for the win in his heat race followed by a big win in the dash as well. However, Mike Harrison, who had six modified feature wins this season at Tri-City Speedway starting the night, held Schrader off in a classic duel to earn his seventh victory of the season. Harrison led all twenty laps of the main event, but Schrader continously pressured Harrison for the lead throughout the event. Tommie Seets, Jr. crossed the finish line in third with Marty Smith, Jr. fourth and Robbie Eilers completed the top five. Marty Smith, Jr. now holds a fifteen point lead over Bobby Martintoni for the Tri-City Speedway Track Championship in the Modified division.

Nick Lyons secured his sixth victory of the season at Tri-City Speedway in the CARS Late Model division. Lyons had opened a big lead early in the event, but Mark Oller closed the event out with a strong run at the end and just came up short at the finish line and had to settle for second. Ron Sensel took third with Rylan Dagg fourth and Garrett Britton fifth. Lyons increased his point lead over Dagg and now leads by 43 points. Sensel sits another ten points behind Dagg in third for the CARS track championship at Tri-City Speedway.

Andy Beavers won his first ever Street Stock main event in a photo finish over Richie Gabriel. The event featured eight cars battling in a pack for the lead with two and three wide battles over the entire fifteen lap distance. Ricky Huebner took the third position with Danny Ems fourth and Josh Jackson fifth. Josh Jackson now holds a twenty-two point lead over Ricky Huebner in the chase for the Street Stock Championship at Tri-City Speedway.

David Shaw cruised to his third Factory Stock feature win over Ryan Eilers. Rob Shaw took the third spot with Bobby Funderburk fourth and T.J. Eilers fifth. Ryan Eilers leads the Factory Stock point standings at Tri-City Speedway with a thirty-four point lead over David Shaw.

Pontoon Beach, IL (August 10, 2007) Billy Faust of Lebanon, IL took the lead at the drop of the green flag and held off the challenges of Randy Korte for the entire twenty-five lap distance in the main event. The victory was Faust's sixth win in just eleven starts at Tri-City Speedway this season. Brian Diveley came home in the third spot in his first ever visit to the newly reconfigured 3/8 mile track. Billy Laycock took the fourth spot and earned the STLRacing.com Hard Charger Award as he moved up the most positions from where he started over all the other drivers. Kyle Steffens rounded out the top five.

Mike Harrison of Highland, IL also earned his sixth win of the 2007 racing season at Tri-City Speedway in the Modified division. Harrison's victory was worth $2,000 as it was the opening event of the MO/IL Modified Challenge which was to wrap up Saturday night at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO. Bobby Martintoni took the second spot with Kyle Byerline finishing third. Marty Smith, Jr. was fourth with Robbie Eilers completing the top five.

Mark Oller of Highland, IL paced all twenty laps of the CARS Late Model main event and earned his second consecutive win. Daniel Heck outlasted his brother to earn the second spot with Aaron Heck taking third. Ron Sensel finished fourth and Rylan Dagg was fifth.

Tommy Gegg of Alton, IL won his sixth feature event of the season at Tri-City Speedway in the Street Stock division. Josh Jackson was second with Jimmy Bell third. Ricky Huebner crossed the line in fourth with Morris Booth finishing fifth.

Ryan Eilers of Highland, IL won the Factory Stock main event which was his fifth win of the season at Tri-City Speedway. Chris Fisher took the second spot with Rob Shaw finishing in third just ahead of his brother David Shaw. Bobby Funderburk rounded out the top five.

Pontoon Beach, IL (August 3, 2007) Billy Faust of Lebanon, IL won his fifth Super Late Model main event of the 2007 racing season at Tri-City Speedway as he slipped underneath Randy Korte on lap eleven to take the lead and then went on to victory. Korte then had to hold off Mark Faust to finish second with Tim Ratajczyk taking fourth and Mark Voigt completed the top five.

Ray Walsh of St. Louis, MO powered his way around the high side to victory in the Modified division, but not without drama in the final lap. Walsh moved past early leader Mike Harrison immediately after an early caution and appeared to be on his way to a convincing win, but on the final lap Walsh's car began to experience problems with the rear-end gear. Walsh had to nurse his car around turns three and four allowing Harrison to almost steal the win. Tommie Seets, Jr. would finish third with Marty Smith, Jr. fourth and Matt Goulden moved up from the twelfth starting spot to round out the top five.

Mark Oller posted a convincing victory in the CARS Late Model division. Oller led all twenty laps as he held of the challenges of Danny Jolly. Ron Sensel took the third spot with Brian McCormick fourth and Bobby Dauderman fifth.

Josh Jackson led all fifteen laps of the Street Stock main event as he took the win over Jim Bell. Andy Beavers was third with Sam Kizer fourth and Morris Booth fifth. Eric Rensing earned the STLRacing.com Hard Charger Award as he finished ninth after starting fifteenth.

David Shaw outdueled his brother Rob Shaw to earn the win in the Factory Stock division. Ryan Eilers was third, Nick Knebel fourth and Andy Jackson fifth.

Pontoon Beach, IL (July 20, 2007) Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR picked up the $10,000 victory at Tri-City Speedway's Lucas Oils Series Miller Lite 50. Don O'Neal took the lead at the drop of the green flag from his front row pole starting position and led the first fifteen circuits. Moyer, who started third, slipped back to fifth in the first stages of the event but found the fast line around the 3/8 mile oval after about ten laps and started moving back toward the front. Once Moyer got to the lead, he held off all challenges and led the last half of the event to earn the win.

Shannon Babb, who started on the outside of the front row, battled early on with O'Neal for the lead, then slipped back to fifth before coming on in the later laps and earning a third place finish behind O'Neal.

Terry English, who had to use a provisional to earn a starting spot in the main event, charged through the field and picked up a fourth place finish.

Earl Pearson, Jr. finally got things going in the closing laps and passed several cars near the end to earn the fifth position.

Bryan Collins, the defending track point champion at Tri-City Speedway had a stellar run as he started in the twentieth position and charged all the way up to the third position in the first twelve laps. However, some suspension damage to his car late in the race would cost him several spots as he ended up eighth at the checkered flag.

A stellar field of thirty-eight UMP DIRTcar Modifieds were on hand at Tri-City Speedway for the $1,000 to win special event. Fans were treated to a spectacular race Jeff Leka took the early lead from pole sitter Chad Kinder. Leka led the first fought off the challenges off Kinder and then Mike Harrison as he led the first eleven circuits of the twenty-five lap main event. Harrison would finally make a successful bid for the lead on lap twelve after several previous attempts failed. Harrison of Highland, IL then pulled away to a comfortable lead but left eight other cars running in a pack for the second spot. In the final two laps, those eight cars swapped positions around more times than anyone could count. Leka would get a second place finish in the event and Scott Weber rallied back to a third place finish after running as far back as eighth with just five laps remaining. Marty Smith, Jr. made a spectacular save down the back-stretch on the final lap as he got turned into the outside wall causing his car to climb the wall. The fans in the grandstands could only see the roof of his car as it almost got upside down on the wall, but it seemed he never got out of the gas and brought the car back down off the wall and held off the field for a fourth place finish. Kinder would complete the top five.

Ron Sensel picked up his first career crate late model feature win with a sensational last lap pass on Nick Lyons. Sensel used the high side and drove the car in very deep into the turns on the final lap and just edged Lyons at the start/finish line for the victory. Lyons would finish second with Ray Emling, Jr. taking third. Darin Walker and Garrett Britton would compete the top five. Britton earned the STLRacing.com Hard Charger Award as he passed the most cars in the feature event with his fifth place finish after starting fifteenth.

Pontoon Beach, IL (July 13, 2007) Randy Korte of Highland, IL brought home the victory in the Super Late Model division main event. Korte fought side-by-side with Craig Smith for the first eight laps of the main event before the two made contact down the back stretch which resulted in a flattened left rear tire on Smith's machine. Korte took control from there and led the remaining distance to earn the victory. Billy Faust made a late race charge to chase Korte down at the end but ran out of laps and settled for a second place finish. Bryan Collins came home third with Michael Kloos fourth and Mark Voigt fifth.

A big field of thirty-six cars were on hand to battle in the Modified division. Mike Harrison of Highland, IL topped the action in the main event as he held off Scott Weber for the victory. Marty Smith, Jr. came home third with Mark Miner fourth and Tim Hancock fifth.

Ray Emling, Jr. of DuQuoin, IL earned his first CARS Late Model feature win of the season at Tri-City Speedway. Nick Lyons, who started dead last in the main event, slipped through traffic and had the lead before ten laps were complete, but Lyons found trouble shortly after taking the lead as he clipped one of the large tires bordering the infield of the track breaking a left front tie rod which caused steering problems on his car. Emling took back over the lead and then had to hold off Bobby Daudermann for the win. Daudermann pulled along side Emling on the final lap but came up just short at the start/finish line and settled for second. Rylan Dagg came home third with Matt Weidner fourth and Ron Sensel fifth.

Defending Street Stock Champion Ricky Huebner finally got his first win of the 2007 racing season at Tri-City Speedway as he bested second place finisher Andy Beavers. Danny Ems took the third spot with Josh Jackson fourth and Richie Gabriel fifth.

Rob Shaw earned the win in the Factory Stock division. Justin Shaw was second and Ryan Eilers third.

PONTOON BEACH, IL – July 6, 2007 – Don O'Neal is ready for the stretch run of the 2007 UMP DIRTcar Racing Summernationals.

After two days away from the tour grind – for a scheduled off day and a rainout – the Martinsville , Ind. , came back recharged on Friday night and drove to a powerful victory in the 40-lap A-Main at Tri-City Speedway.

It was the third victory of this year's Summernationals for O'Neal, whose 35 career tour checkered flags rank him third on the alltime win list behind Billy Moyer of Batesville , Ark. (62) and Moweaqua , Ill. 's Babb (51). He had never before captured a series event at the Tri-City facility.

The $10,000 triumph brought O'Neal closer to UMP DIRTcar Racing Summernationals points leader Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville , Ill. , who charged to a fifth-place finish after qualifying through a B-Main.

It wasn't an easy win for O'Neal, the 2004 Summernationals champion. He had to hold off the advances of Moyer and Brian Shirley of Chatham , Ill. , who finished second and third, respectively, to reach the checkered flag first.

Jimmy Mars of Menononie , Wis. , placed fourth and Erb was fifth.

Summernationals frustration continued for Mike Marlar of Winfield , Tenn. , whose hopes for the tour title have been disintegrating over the past week. He was credited with a last-place finish (22nd) after an early tangle with Randy Korte of Highland , Ill. , prompted him to make contact with Korte's car under caution, earning him a black flag from UMP officials.

Forty-six dirt Late Models entered the first-ever Summernationals event run on Tri-City's new three-eighths-mile layout. The tour raced in previous years on the facility's big half-mile track, which Tri-City owner Kevin Gundaker replaced with a smaller oval for the 2007 season.

Heat winners were Moyer, Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, Mich. , O'Neal and Mars, and the B-Mains were captured by Jason Feger of Springfield , Ill. , and Erb.

Pontoon Beach, IL (July 6, 2007) Bobby Martintoni topped a stellar field of UMP Modifieds as he took the victory in the twenty-five lap main event. Martintoni moved past early leader Brent Mullins on lap eleven and then held off the hard charging Chad Kinder in the closing laps to earn the win. Mullins took the third spot. Mike Harrison took the fourth position with Jeff Leka completing the top five. There were battles all over the track as cars swapped spots continuously all throughout the main event.

Tommy Gegg took the victory in the Street Stock division as he topped Josh Jackson. Andy Beavers took the third spot with Richie Gabriel taking fourth and Morris Booth completed the top five.

Bob Zbinden took the Factory Stock win over David Shaw and Ryan Eilers. Justin Shaw took fourth with Chris Fisher rounding out the top five.
